After reading The Little Red Hen Bakes a Pizza, we explored pizza dough in small groups, painted pizzas at the easel, and opened a Pizza Shop in Dramatic Play. The children took orders, sold pizzas, and served customers at our pizza shop called "Mozzarella's" Some hungry friends wait for pizza to be cooked! As we sing, Jonathan , Shawn'ae and Osawese make the letter "p" with their fingers! The next step is to add the sauce! Does your child know what comes after the sauce? Our pizza is popped into the oven to bake and then it is ready to eat! Summer helps to cut the pizza! |
To add to the learning experience, we planned a field trip to Target Pizza Shop. The manager was very kind and demonstrated how he makes his pizza, bakes it in the oven, and allowed each child to slice a pizza with the pizza slicer. He treated us all to lunch! We had a wonderful time! We decide to sing our "Pizza" song while we wait. We leanred how to spell pizza by singing this song. Max's mom joins right in! The owner of Target Pizza demonstrates how he make each pizza. The first step is rolling and shaping the dough. Ask your child what shape the dough is rolled into! The cheese is added next. Ask your child what type of cheese is added. Mozzarella! Just like the Little Red Hen used in her recipe! The owner explains to Jayden how to use the pizza slicer safely as it is sharp. Sarah concentrates as she slices the pizza! |
