Room 107 Dancers Perform The Nutcracker! Every class performs something for our winter concert in December. After some discussion, we decided that we would perform our version of The Nutcracker for our winter concert. We began our preparation by reading many different stories of The Nutcracker. We compared and contrasted the different versions. Some things were the same, and some things were different. For instance, in some versions, the main character was named Clara and in some versions, she was named Marie. The children began to learn the story and have a background about the performance that we would prepare. We viewed a video to see how other ballet companies performed this show. The children were finally ready to prepare our own show. They all worked very hard, and practiced all the dances. Some children would help others that forgot the steps to various dances. The day of the winter concert arrived, and the children were very brave, confident and talented! I am so proud of how wonderful and inspiring that they were! Everyone enjoyed thashow, and we even performed it again the following week for the entire school body. Such talented and Smart Cookies! |

 Our show begins with Clara (Osawese) getting a Nutcracker for a Christmas gift!  Osawese dreams that her Nutcracker is coming to life!  The Mouse King (Ethan) and the Nutcracker (Jonathan) dance and battle ferociously! Clara throws her slipper to try to help her Nutcracker and...  The Toy Soldiers (Adam, Jayden, Max and Nolan) help take the Mouse King away.  The Toy Soldiers (Nolan, Jayden and Max) arrive at the Land of the Sweets with Clara and the Nutcracker and a celebration of dancing begins to honor Clara for her bravery!  The Merry Jumping Candy Canes (Calum, Kat, Vasilia & Summer) begin their dance!  Summer twirls as she dances her routine!  Katherine, Vasilia and Summer are airborne as they complete their routine!  Sienna is enchanting!  Sarah shows us her Mysterious moves.  The Mysterious Coffee Dancers (Sarah, Sienna & Michelle)!  Seamus, Theo and Janeudy have all the moves!  Janeudy is confident in his tiptoeing dance moves!  Next to perform is the Garland of Flower Fairies.  Iyanna and Cassie flutter to their spots as Flower Fairies.  The Flower Fairies flutter and twirl performing for the Nutcracker and Clara.  The Flower Fairies (Shawn'ae, Iyanna, Cassie and Mia) complete their beautiful dance.  Caroline is enchanting as the Sugar Plum Fairy.  Clara prepares to go home and says goodbye to her friends from the Land of the Sweets.  Final bow for the Fabulous Room 107 Nutcracker Performers!  The Nutcracker Prince and the Mouse King are great friends again after a ferocious on-stage battle!  The Room 107 Nutcracker Dance Company! Next stop...Boston Ballet! |
 The Nutcracker (Jonathan), The Mouse King (Ethan) and the Red Toy Soldiers (Adam & Nolan) watch Clara and wait for their cue!  The Nutcracker (Jonathan) and the Mouse King (Ethan) battle!  Clara helps the Nutcracker to defeat the Mouse King!  Jayden, Nolan, Max and Adam escort Clara and the Nutcracker to the Land of the Sweets.  The Merry Jumping Candy Canes are the first to perform!  Katherine and Vasilia are certainly very merry Jumping Candy Canes!  Calum reaches new heights as a Merry Jumping Candy Cane!  The Mysterious Coffee dancers (Sarah, Sienna & Michelle) appear.  Michelle is very mysterious!  The Tiptoeing Teacups tiptoe out to perform for Clara and the Nutcracker!  Theo shows his dance moves!  Seamus, Theo and Janeudy show their talent at the Teacup dance.  Shawn'ae is very poised as the Flower Fairy.  Mia sways as a Flower Fairy.  When the other dancers had completed their performances, the Sugar Plum Fairy (Caroline) invited Clara (Osawese) to join her in a dance.  The Sugar Plum Fairy (Caroline) completes her dance, and Clara prepares to leave the Land of the Sweets.  When she got home and awoke, Clara wondered had it all been a dream? It all seemed so real!  Back in our classroom to pose for family pictures after the performance!  All together again to celebrate a wonderful performance by very talented dancers! |
